Modular didn’t arrive fully formed.

Like the butterfly in our mark, it went through four stages — and each one changed what the next could be. This is how we got here.

Stage 01EggWhere it startedOur 3D years, and the idea we couldn’t put down.

Years in 3D taught us what was coming.

Our AI chapter began after years pioneering 3D and immersive commerce. When agentic tools first started to work, we saw where it led: 3D itself would eventually be automated — and the future we envisioned would need many AIs working together in real time. No system on the market could do it.

Stage 02LarvaThe questionOne question — and the same pattern in every system we tested.

So we asked one question

Could a well-designed system of smaller, specialized AIs outperform a single large model?

Everything since has been the answer.

Every system worked the same way.

In a straight, sequential line — one step feeding the next. Fine when work was predictable, broken everywhere else. Four things mattered: autonomy, adaptability, reliability and expandability. They were exactly what a sequential system couldn’t deliver.
